          Resident Evil Village Download Free

Like Resident Evil 7 (2017), Resident Evil Village uses a first-person perspective. It is set in an explorable village. The inventory management system is similar to that of Resident Evil 4 (2005), featuring a briefcase. Players can buy weapons and items from a merchant, the Duke.[4] The players can also hunt certain animals in the village and have them cooked into dishes by the Duke, eating said dishes allows the player to get advantages such as decreasing the damage taken while blocking.

Resident Evil Village will include a six-player online multiplayer game, Resident Evil RE:Verse.[5]

The Mercenaries Mode will also return in Village, like previous Resident Evil entries it will be an action-packed arcade style game mode.

Synopsis[edit]

Resident Evil Village is set a few years after Resident Evil 7. Ethan Winters returns as the protagonist.[6] Ethan has been living with his wife Mia and daughter Rosemary when Chris Redfield suddenly appears and kidnaps him to a mysterious European village.[7][6][8] Ethan has to traverse the village to rescue Rosemary.[8] The village is ruled by four different mutant lords, each controlling their own forces from strongholds within the village. Alcina Dimitrescu,[b] an overly tall vampiric being, leads her three daughters and others from her castle.[10][11] Karl Heisenberg leads a group of werewolf-like creatures from a contemporary factory. Salvatore Moreau commands a number of mermen from a lake adjacent to the village. Donna Beneviento rules from her mansion, House Beneviento, and controls a puppet named Angie.[12] All houses respond to the deity-like figure Mother Miranda, who is a "presence worshipped by the villagers."[8]

Development[edit]

Resident Evil Village had been in development for approximately three and a half years prior to its announcement in June 2020.[13] Like Resident Evil 7 (2017), it was developed with the RE Engine. While it is recognized by Capcom as the eighth main game in the series, and its logo stylized to include the Roman numeral "VIII" for 8, the producers stylized the title to emphasise on the "village" aspect rather than the "8". In a Famitsu interview, producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Peter Fabiano said that they considered the village a character, and wanted to reflect that in the stylization of the title so that players would remember it.[13][14]

The team took inspiration from Resident Evil 4 to create "a balance of combat, exploration, and puzzle solving".[7] The team early on had decided they wanted to continue Ethan's story from Resident Evil VII as they had become attached to his character, and worked to devise a story for him with the other Resident Evil teams within Capcom. While they continued on from Resident Evil VII, game director Morimasa Sato said they wanted to give players more freedom toward solving problems, and make it "a horror movie that you can play". Sato also stated that the setting's snowy weather was inspired by the team's trip to Europe for research for the game, where they were met by an "unseasonable cold snap," saying, "The scenery was covered in snow...This inspired us to implement snowscapes into our game. We use snow not just for visual presentation, but as gameplay elements as well.”[8]

The game had been planned around the idea of castles and vampires, according to art director Tomonori Takano, but they wanted to avoid the stereotypical representation of vampires in popular culture.[15] Capcom had considered a case where the castle and village was occupied by hundreds of witches, but they found this difficult to conceptualize into a video game, and switched directions towards vampires.[16] To develop a "bewitching vampire", they took references from the real-life 16th century Hungarian female murderer Elizabeth Báthory, the Japanese urban legend of Hasshaku-sama, and Anjelica Huston's portrayal of Morticia Addams from The Addams Family in creating one of the central figures of the game, Lady Dimitrescu. Further, Takano wanted to move away from the typical gothic horror associated with past Resident Evil games, and gave her an appearance from the Great Depression era. Takano said this was part of the same trend that started with Resident Evil 7 in that they wanted to move away from simply using elements like zombies to scare players but created unique situations and characters that would create fear in new ways.[15] Also drawing from Resident Evil 4, they wanted to have memorable characters populating the titular village in the game.[16] Her appearance first came about in an early prototype that use the model of Mia from Resident Evil 7 but with a hat and a dress, which gave her a ghost-like appearance but not one that seemed scary, according to Takano. They scaled-up the model in game and found that added that necessarily element.[16] Based on this prototype, one of the first pieces of concept art Takano drew of Lady Dimitrescu involved her imposing visage leaning down to step through a doorway and demonstrating her over nine-foot height, which he recognized needed to be a scene in the final game, as well as being present in the game's first trailer.[15] As she was to be the boss of the village and castle, Capcom also gave her three daughters, Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela. She protects her daughters in a motherly fashion, which provided a way to present her story alongside that of Ethan's own family that he is trying to protect.[16]

Takano said that Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters helped to bring the game back to the Resident Evil series' horror roots compared to their initial witches concept.[16] The other three Houses in the villages drew from other classic gothic horror themes of werewolves, mermen, and ghosts for Heisenberg, Moreau, and Beneviento, respectively.[12] House Beneviento furthered some of the ideas that the team had used in Resident Evil 7.[12] For major antagonist Mother Miranda, Takano stated that crows were the primary motif of her design, noting them being symbolic in the game's village, as well as functioning as an overarching design theme for the game.
